The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry in the College of Science and Mathematics invites applications and nominations for the position of tenure-track Assistant Professor of Chemistry.

Within this setting, the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry is housed in the College of Science and Mathematics. The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry offers two ACS certified Bachelor of Science degrees in chemistry and biochemistry as well as a Bachelor of Arts degree in chemistry. The department also offers a Master of Science in Applied Physical Science with concentrations in pharmaceutical science, materials and coatings science, and environmental science. The Department is rapidly increasing its externally funded research activities and is housed in a 47,000 square foot facility containing modern classrooms with dedicated teaching and research laboratories on the Statesboro campus and a similar facility on the Armstrong (Savannah) campus. The department is comprised of 45 faculty with 36 in the professor track and 9 in the lecturer track as well as 4 full time staff. The faculty focuses on high quality, student-centered undergraduate and graduate education that prepares students for careers in the chemical industry as well as medicine, dentistry, pharmacy and education. The department is committed to both graduate and undergraduate research with the majority of undergraduate biochemistry and chemistry majors participating, thus furthering their preparedness for post-baccalaureate studies in many fields. A hallmark of this Department is faculty mentoring of undergraduate chemistry and biochemistry majors. Position Description. Reporting to the Department Chair, the Assistant Professor position requires teaching, scholarship, and service responsibilities. The position is a 10-month tenure track appointment, with a salary that is both competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience.
