Information: To act as a resource for women seeking information on women's issues including health issues, academic opportunities, safety concerns, and career options; to provide a library collection that supports the academic interests of women.

Support: To provide a comfortable gathering place for women, with diverse needs and interests, at Georgia Tech; to assist student groups developing and implementing programming that fosters a greater sense of understanding and responsiveness to women's issues on campus.

Advocacy: To act as a crisis intervention resource that aids students in locating and utillizing campus and community services; to advocate for changes in campus policies and practices that impact women's educational experiences and opportunities as well as those that affect the campus climate for woman.

Training: To provide women with opportunities to build skills that will prepare them for life following graduation, especially through developing leadership.

Services: To aid the development of campus services that cater to the diverse needs of women at Georgia Tech.

Community: To foster a sense of community among the diverse groups of women and men at Georgia Tech.

Job Summary

Responsible for the design, implementation, management, and evaluation for one or more Student Life Programs. Serves as a campus agent in promoting programs and coordinates student involvement and support for those opportunities. This position will interact on a consistent basis with: student, parents, faculty members, representatives of community organizations. This position typically will advise and counsel: students and campus representatives. This position may supervise: students, interns and staff.

Job Summary

This position will also assist in the oversight, leadership, and vision of the Women's Resource Center. Provide aid in assessing the campus climate and educational needs; advocate for systemic program and policy changes that work toward an inclusive environment that supports women. Provide crisis intervention, support, advocacy, and resource/referral information for individual students.

Responsibilities

Job Duty 1 -

Provides administrative leadership and support services for one or more unique Student Life Programs. Advises student programs, organizations and groups.

Job Duty 2 -
Oversees all administrative aspects of the program including budget development, office resources, records management, etc. Responsible for project direction, coordination, planning, design, and management.

Job Duty 3 -
Participates in creating assessment tools and evaluates program initiatives.

Job Duty 4 -
Serves as a liaison between staff, faculty, and the community.

Job Duty 5 -
Develops and conducts workshops in area of expertise. Provide advice and support to faculty and staff members in service learning or co-curricular programs.Provide resources and training for students related to safety and liability issues involved in programming.

Job Duty 6 -
Writes and disseminates material to assist students in making informed decisions and/ or explain university policies and procedures.

Job Duty 7 -
Participate in recruitment, selection, and formal leadership training of student leaders.

Job Duty 8 -
Develop marketing and promotion student programs.

Job Duty 9 -
Perform other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

Master's Degree in Higher Education, Student Affairs or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience
Overnight travel requifeed for project delivery; flexibility in on-site daily service delivery hours degree in Higher Education/Student Affairs or related (due to client shift schedules, project requifeements).
Four to six years of job related experience

Preferred Qualifications

Previous experience with student information systems for higher education (ie Banner)
Master's Degree in Higher Education/Student Affairs

Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Higher Education, Women's and Gender Studies, or related field
  • 5+ years of experience in Higher Education
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

This job requires the ability to work independently; excellent communication skills (verbal and written); proven project management experience and organizational skills; ability to multi-task with multiple deadlines; basic knowledge of office related computer applications.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Comprehensive knowledge of gender and issues that impact women's experiences, proven ability to apply a range of concepts, techniques, and practices to follow through with program objectives; ability to work with and respect, women from a wide range of backgrounds and viewpoints; excellent written and verbal communications and computer skills.
