Description
As a member of the Risk Management division reporting to the Director, International Risk Management, the Assistant Director for International Risk Management collaborates with the Director, Education Abroad & Overseas Campuses, Temple Rome, Temple Japan, Temple’s emergency services provider and international health insurance, to plan and implement training programs and activities to ensure continuous improvement and support for the health, safety, and security components of international travel.
The Assistant Director oversees the administration of the International Travel Policy, researching and analyzing significant international developments, and providing recommendations for approval or disapproval of proposed travel plans. Creates and refreshes training programs focused on health, safety and security components of international travel. Serves as a primary contact for Temple’s emergency services provider and international health insurance provider. Coordinates emergency and incident response for international travelers in an on-call rotation with the Director, International Risk Management. 
Supports the strategic focus of international travel, creating web and training content, as well as implementation plans for new projects and programs. Engages with a variety of stakeholders in individual and group settings, including both internal and external audiences. Represents Temple University as a health and safety expert for the international campuses with non-Temple students, parents, and partners. Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Education & Experience:
Bachelor’s degree at least four (4) years of progressively responsible experience. Experience should include creating and running training programs, emergency or incident response, and/or advising and supporting individual travelers. Demonstrated customer service or stakeholder engagement experience. Experience with research strategies and tactics to analyze and report on location specific risks and recommendations to move forward or refrain from traveling. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

* Proficiency in all standard computer applications, including Microsoft Office products, particularly Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
* Stays up to date in international risk management and health & safety and educates university personnel in the best practices in those areas.
* Attention to detail.
* Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, in writing and orally, even under time or other pressures.
* High degree of professionalism in handling emergencies or confidential situations.
* Ability to work nights and/or weekends, as necessary.

Preferred:
* Master’s degree.
* Substantive experience living, working, or studying outside the United States.
* Experience developing and delivering training to diverse audiences.
* Experience with international security or intelligence analysis.
* Experience with international insurance.
* Familiarity with the capabilities and operations of U.S. government agencies responsible for the support of citizens abroad.
* Experience in incident or crisis management.
* Experience with Terra Dotta software or familiarity with software tools used to track travelers for an organization.

This position requires Child Abuse Certifications prior to the commencement of service.

This position is temporarily assigned a hybrid work arrangement (on-campus and remote), the duration of this hybrid work arrangement is at the discretion of Temple University and the Department.
