The incumbent in this position will oversee and direct the new Guardhouse museum. In addition, this Lecturer will teach four courses per year, including courses in the Museum Studies certificate program, introductory courses in Anthropology or History, and courses in their specialty field. This is a fiscal year (12-month) position. Responsibilities include: managing the Guardhouse museum; teaching courses as assigned; holding office hours, providing timely grading and student feedback; adhering to all academic policies of the university; ensuring safety and compliance in assigned spaces. This person will also direct and promote the Certificate in Museum Studies program.Department Marketing Statement THE UNIVERSITY: Augusta University, located in historic Augusta, Georgia, is one of only four public comprehensive research institutions in the state of Georgia. - MA or MS in History, Anthropology, or a closely related field.
- Graduate level training in museum studies.Two years of experience in museum education, collection management, or administration.Experience teaching at the university level.Demonstrated potential for teaching effectiveness with diverse student populations.
All candidates are required to successfully pass a Background Check review. For specific positions, the final candidate may be subject to a (pre-employment) physical, drug screen, and/or credit check.
The final candidate will be required to provide proof of completed academic degree(s) as well as post-secondary coursework in the form of original transcript(s). Those candidates trained by a foreign institution will also be required to provide an educational/credential evaluation.
