The Department of Leadership, Higher and Adult Education (LHAE) at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education (OISE), University of Toronto invites applications for a full-time tenure stream position at the rank of Associate Professor in the area of Higher Education Leadership and Administration. The appointment will commence on July 1, 2022 or shortly thereafter.
Applicants must have earned a PhD or equivalent doctoral degree in Higher Education or a closely related field. We seek to recruit an established scholar of higher education with demonstrated research expertise in higher education leadership and administration, and a clearly demonstrated exceptional record of excellence in research and teaching. We seek candidates whose research and teaching interests complement and enhance existing strengths in LHAE's Higher Education program. Illustrative examples of possible specializations include traditional topics such as strategic planning, budgeting, organizational behaviour, and leadership, as well as emerging trends in the administration of college and professional programs, or a focus on equity and diversity in leadership. The successful candidate will be expected to sustain and lead innovative and independent research at the highest international level.
Candidates are expected to have established a strong record of excellence in research, which can be demonstrated by a sustained record of high-quality, high-impact publications in top-ranked journals in the field of higher education, presentations at significant conferences, distinguished awards and accolades, other noteworthy activities and accomplishments that contribute to the visibility and prominence of the discipline, the research statement submitted with the application, and strong endorsements from referees of high standing.
Evidence of excellence in teaching at the university level is required, as demonstrated through teaching accomplishments, strong letters of reference, and the teaching dossier submitted as part of the application (including required materials outlined below). Demonstrated interest and experience teaching at the graduate level in higher education leadership and administration is required.
The successful candidate will be expected to maintain an outstanding, competitive, and externally funded research program in higher education leadership and administration. Other responsibilities of the position include teaching in Higher Education graduate degree programs, supervising doctoral and master’s theses, service to LHAE and to OISE, and working collaboratively with related units across OISE.
Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
