EREC contains offices, laboratories, greenhouses, an on-site farm manager quarters, mechanical shop, equipment storage buildings and 600 acres available for field research. EREC has communal and individual residential dormitories and houses for graduate students and visiting scientists. Approximately 50 additional personnel support faculty research and extension programs. Belle Glade is located west of the metropolitan West Palm Beach area (population approximately 1 million), a region with excellent subtropical climate, exceptional beaches and surrounding aquatic environments, and the cultural advantages of a large city.
