Normal Work Schedule: Monday ­- Friday 10:00am to 7:00pm. Hours vary to include some nights and weekends for staff training and development, events and other activities. On call for emergencies at assigned facilities.

Job Summary: Under general supervision, the Student Life Specialist I is responsible for the administration of one or more Student Life program(s). Serves as liaison between the program and other departments or the community. Position may supervise staff or students. Part of the Student Life Career Progression Plan.

Additional Department Summary: The Coordinator of Facility Operations assists in the professional management and supervision of The University of Alabama's Student Recreation Center, Robert E. Witt Student Activity Center, Parker-Haun Tennis Facility, and seasonal staffing of the Outdoor Pool during weekday, afternoon and evening hours. During evening hours, this position shares responsibility for all functions relating to the operations and maintenance of UREC facilities including but not limited to: patron services and amenities, supervision of approximately 125-150 part-time student operations assistants and student building supervisors, scheduling of facilities, revenue accounting, risk assessment and management, issuance and maintenance of sports and fitness equipment, sports equipment inventory, policy administration, and injury management. This position is responsible for communicating issues with facility maintenance and mechanical systems to the Associate Director for Facility Operations & Special Events.

The Coordinator provides a respectful, supportive, and healthy environment for University Recreation participants, and ensures the safety and well­being of participants which creates an environment for health and fitness improvement. This position works to support department and University goals of diversity, equity, inclusion and outreach in student employment opportunities, patron relations, program offerings, and special events.

The Coordinator works to maximize student experiences by providing educational and recreational opportunities to the University community, including development opportunities for student staff. This position will also hold primary responsibilities in managing patron services and relations, managing equipment, and administrative tasks such as payroll, budgeting and accounting. This position has personal accountability for financial reporting and responsibility for establishing, enforcing, and following internal processes and controls as outlined in UA policies and procedures.

Responsible for completing required training and promoting a safe, hospitable, and respectful workplace. Responsible for holding staff accountable for completion of required training.

Required Department Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree and two (2) years of facility operations experience in a collegiate or municipal recreation setting; OR Master's degree or higher and one (1) year of facility operations experience in a collegiate or municipal recreation setting. Will consider graduate assistant­ship and/or internship experience if performed with primary emphasis in facility operations.

CPR and First Aid Instructor certification required, or ability to attain within six months of hire date.

Must have valid U.S. driver's license. Must be at least 21 years of age at time of hire and have an acceptable Motor Vehicle Report that is in compliance with University policies.

Skills and Knowledge: Progressive experience, knowledge, and understanding of recreation facility operations and management. Effective customer relations, strong interpersonal skills, effective oral and written communication skills. Demonstrated knowledge and skills associated with successful management of recreation facilities.

Preferred Qualifications: Two (2) years of progressive facility management experience in a campus recreation or similar setting. Experience with recreation management systems, such as FUSION and Connect2Concepts preferred.
