Position Summary

The Accounting Clerk position within the Student Accounts Office will answer telephone and email inquiries regarding student accounts using Student Information System (SIS). Interpret and explain University policies and procedures; research and correct billing and account errors; perform on-line system applications; engage in problem solving with students, parents, and other University personnel. Collect on overdue student accounts which include examining each account breakdown for accuracy; attempting to make contact on overdue accounts via collection letters, phone calls, and email. Establishes payment plan agreements, monitors accounts for payments and mails late notices monthly. Prepare default accounts for transfer to Delinquent Receivables; prepare monthly collection reports; assist other student account offices; other ad-hoc duties, as needed.

Unit Specific Education/Experience/Skills

The job requires: knowledge normally acquired through a high school ed ucation; one to three years of related and progressively more responsi ble or expansive work experience in accounting, bookkeeping, records m aintenance and/or experience in spreadsheet, word processing, and/or d atabase software. The job may require knowledge of technical or medica l terminology and/or technical training related to the field of employ ment; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
