About the College/Unit/Department:

As the 4th largest public college of education in the country and the 3rd largest college at UGA, the Mary Frances Early College of Education (MFECOE) improves the lives of residents of Georgia and beyond through our instruction, research, and service. The MFE COE is a comprehensive college with disciplines focused on teacher preparation, counseling and human development, communication sciences, human movement sciences, career development, student affairs, and educational administration and policy. We place significant emphasis on graduate education with approximately 40% of our students at the graduate level, making us the second largest college at UGA with respect to graduate education.

Named for Mary Frances Early, UGA’s first African American graduate, in February 2020, the MFE COE has a long and distinguished history as a leader in diversity, equity, and inclusion. Position Summary:

This position involves supervised professional administrative work supporting graduate and undergraduate programs in selected academic programs. A number of program options necessitate additional support for faculty and students across the Bachelor’s in selected academic programs, a Double Dawgs option, a Master’s in Education advanced preparation program, and a Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) in selected academic programs. Additional job duties center on:

Duties/Responsibilities:

Program Coordination:
MED and MAT Program Coordinator:

  • Primary individual responsible for co-coordination and co-management of MED and MAT programs.
  • Coordinate with other departments and units that intersect with programs of study and requirements for selected academic programs, including but not limited to Language and Literacy Education, Mathematics and Science Education, Communication Sciences and Special Education, Social Studies Education Program, Kinesiology, and College of Education Office of Academic Programs.
  • Support program faculty with advising.
  • Assessment Coordinator for selected academic programs.
  • Verify information in department and college-level databases each semester; maintain database for student learning outcomes that are not centralized in college databases.
  • Assist graduate faculty as they determine areas in need of change.
  • Coordinate faculty responses to college data summaries (e.g., PAAR, PRS-II) and generate reports as needed for university required annual student learning outcomes assessment reports.
  • Work with faculty to evaluate data for usage at program review and respond promptly to college and external inquiries on data summaries.
Data-Based Student Management:
  • Monitor and promote the retention, progression, graduation, and career outcomes of EDMG and ESOC students.
  • Serve as a resource for follow-up tasks related to students’ results on Dispositions surveys.
  • Inform students of policies related to assessments such as GACE, Ethics, edTPA, entry into Foliotek.
Program Policy and Procedure:
  • Manage EDMG and ESOC handbooks to reflect and adhere to changing GaPSC certification and/or Graduate School requirements.
  • Monitor progress related to Action Plans for identified students.
  • Coordinate with Office of Academic Programs to ensure certification programs are in compliance with GaPSC policy.
Admissions Coordination for EDMG and ESOC Programs:
  • Scheduling and Instructional Support Manager
  • Assist with annual course schedules for EDMG and ESOC programs taking into account current enrollment, projected enrollment, and faculty needs.
  • Coordinate and communicate with other departments and programs as needed in relation to course offerings.

Field Experience Work:

  • Coordinate placements for candidates in EDMG and ESOC programs.
  • Assist faculty with complex placements.
  • Communicate program expectations, candidate assignments (e.g., UGA supervisor assignment), and schedules.
Recruitment & Marketing:
  • Work with MFE COE Office of Communications, Office of Student Services, Office of Academic Programs, and other relevant entities to develop strong marketing and recruiting strategies and materials to promote program growth.
  • Participate in student recruitment fairs and field questions about programs.
Communication:
  • Support development and management of website content and social media communications associated with programs and events.
Program Point of Contact:
  • Serve as the first representative of the EDMG and ESOC program for anyone seeking information for Double Dawgs and graduate programs at the master’s level.
  • Provide timely response to all questions, concerns, etc. for EDMG and ESOC students and outside agencies.
  • Evaluate, redirect, organize, and prioritize all matters referred to EDMG and ESOC and act or recommend action.

Student Support:

  • Serve as student support contact for enrolled students and prospective student inquiries, including assisting students in interpreting academic procedures and policies, addressing questions, and resolving problems.
  • Support retention, timely progression, graduation, and career outcomes of EDMG and ESOC students.
  • Develop and support program support initiatives such as orientations and information sessions.
  • Coordinate admissions process with MFE COE Office of Student Services and UGA Graduate School.
  • Meet routinely with the Middle Grades Education and Social Studies Education BSED advisor in the Office of Student Services to share resources, strategies, and techniques for supporting all EDMG and ESOC students. Identify common problems with student support, programming logistics, instruction, assessment, and connect with appropriate UGA entities for support.
