This is a 9-month tenure track position at the Assistant or Associate Professor rank in the Department of Physical Therapy and Athletic Training on the Flagstaff Mountain Campus.
The position is anticipated to start at the start of the fall 2022 semester.
A tenure track faculty member at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor is being sought for the Doctor of Physical Therapy program on the Flagstaff Mountain Campus.
Responsibilities for this position will include developing and teaching courses related to entry-level physical therapy education, with opportunities in various areas of emphasis. The candidate will also be expected to develop and sustain an independent research line related to their area of expertise; collaborations across campus are possible and encouraged.
Successful applicants will demonstrate evidence of the skills and commitment necessary to develop a successful, extramurally funded research and/or scholarship program. Other expectations include participation in curriculum development, student advisement, and service to the department, college, university, and/or profession.
- Licensure as a physical therapist in the state of Arizona by the start date.
- Academic doctorate degree (PhD, EdD, DSc) in physical therapy, a health-related field (rehabilitation science, neuroscience, public health), or in education from an accredited institution. Candidates nearing completion of a doctorate (ABD) may be considered, but the doctorate must be received by the start date.
- Prior experience in the development, implementation, and dissemination of research projects.
For Assistant Professor:
- Post-doctoral experience
- Evidence of independent or collaborative research productivity
- Experience with grant writing and history of applying for extramural funding
- The ability to collaborate with disciplines outside of physical therapy
- Evidence of successful teaching in higher education
- 2 years or more of clinical physical therapy experience
- Demonstrated commitment to work with people of diverse cultural backgrounds
For Associate Professor (those listed for Assistant Professor, and):
- Previous faculty appointment in a DPT program, with a minimum of 5 years in the rank of Assistant Professor
- A history of participating in extramurally funded research
- A strong record of peer-reviewed publications

In addition, the Fire Safety Report is combined with the Annual Security Report for the NAU Flagstaff Mountain Campus as this campus has on-campus student housing. This report discloses fire safety policies and procedures related to on-campus student housing and statistics for fires that occurred in those facilities.

This is a Faculty (FAC) position. Faculty are hired on a contract basis, renewable according to terms of the Conditions of Faculty Service. Employees offered a position will be eligible for state health plans (including NAU's BCBS Plan). Employees will have 31 days from date of hire to enroll in benefits, and their benefits will then be effective the first day of the pay period following their completed enrollment.
If a new employee chooses the Arizona State Retirement System (ASRS) retirement option, participation in the ASRS Plan (and the long-term disability coverage that accompanies it) will begin on the first of the pay period following 183 days of employment. New employees who choose to participate in the Optional Retirement Plan (ORP; an alternative to the ASRS plan) will begin to participate on the first day of employment. The long-term disability plan that accompanies the ORP will begin on the first day of the pay period following 90 days of employment.
