Under the general supervision of Prof. Pooyan Jamshidi, the Post-Doctoral Fellow will conduct independent research as the lead in the area of Machine Learning Systems, in particular, Causal AI (Causal Representation Learning, Causal Transfer Learning, Structure Learning, Causal Inference, Counterfactual Reasoning) and Computer Systems (System Performance, Computer Architecture, Configurable Systems). Duties will include: (1) Conduct research and obtain theoretical results in the general area of Causal AI, and Computer Systems Performance; (2) Develop algorithms that correspond to the theoretical results; (3) Design and carry out computational experiments for evaluation of the theoretical algorithms and comparison against competing theories; (4) prepare and deliver presentations of project’s research contributions and attend workshops and conferences to make presentations; (5) assist PI with co-advisement of undergraduate and graduate students at AISys lab involved in relevant research topics and (6) coordinate collaborative research activities in the NSF award “Collaborative Research: SHF: Medium: Causal Performance Debugging for Highly-Configurable Systems” in collaboration with Carnegie Mellon University and Columbia University. This position is ideal for a recent or soon-to-be PhD graduate, who intends to build a resume and embark on a faculty job market after the end of the position by performing cutting-edge research, building a network of collaborators, co-advising students and publishing high-quality peer-reviewed papers.
