Job Summary The Georgia Tech H. Milton Stewart School of Industrial and Systems Engineering is seeking a Postdoctoral Research Fellow who will work on optimization theory, algorithms, and applications. This team member will analyze and design innovative algorithms and problem-solving solutions that support various optimization and machine learning projects.

You will work in the research group of Professor Nick Sahinidis (currently 8 PhDs, one postdoc, and growing). We perform cutting-edge research in optimization and machine learning and create enabling technologies across science and engineering. Our research group has multiple ongoing collaborations, including national laboratories and experimentalists, and provides a stimulating innovative research environment.

As a member of our research team, you will have the freedom to suggest new research initiatives to the team. You will also have opportunities to collaborate with experimentalists who require optimization expertise to address critical energy, environmental, and health problems.

Design, analyze, and deploy new optimization algorithms

Address the solution of specific applications through optimization and machine learning

Communicate research results in scholarly journals and at conferences

The preferred start time for this position is early 2022 but there is considerable flexibility. This position is extendable to 3-5 years.

Required Qualifications A Ph.D. in a quantitative subject, such as applied mathematics, computer science, operations research, industrial engineering, or related field, is required.

Preferred Qualifications Preferred qualifications include the following:

    The ideal candidate has prior experience with nonlinear or integer programming algorithms.Experience with optimization methodsProactive self-starter who is comfortable working without micromanagement of day-to-day tasks
