Job Summary

Responsible for making key decisions on position funding, salary redistribution transactions, and payroll system transactions ensuring that they are posted correctly to the Institution's Human Capital Management (HCM) and Financial systems. Develop and compile salary and payroll data and conduct complex analyses, reconciliations, and projections across multiple systems. This position will interact on a regular basis with: Campus Financial personnel, GTHR Position Management, and Payroll and Finance personnel. This position typically will advise and counsel: Payroll, finance staff, and campus HCM and Financial system users. This position will supervise: N/A.

Responsibilities

Job Duty 1 -

Update flat rate fringe calculations annually; complete flat rate fringe analysis to verify correct fringe rates are applied.

Job Duty 2 -
Run reports and analyze to determine and correct errors prior to all payroll runs.

Job Duty 3 -
Ensure accuracy of position and funding data in payroll system; troubleshoot and correct budget errors after payroll processing.

Job Duty 4 -
Run payroll encumbrance journals and verify accuracy; process all payroll cost distribution changes.

Job Duty 5 -
Respond to escalated payroll account inquiries from Institute community.

Job Duty 6 -
Update training materials and provide training to campus users.

Job Duty 7 -
Coordinate with the Position Management, Payroll, System Integration, and Financial Accounting to resolve issues such as paygroup out of sync and determining the correct paygroup, working with the payroll team during payroll processing and resolving errors such as invalid work tags being used, and adding leger accounts and resolving journal posting issues.

Job Duty 8 -
Participate in testing new system releases.

Job Duty 9 -
Resolve journal posting issues and determine approval or denial of funding change requests.

Job Duty 10 -
Perform other related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Business, Finance, or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience
Three to four years of job-related experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Higher education, PeopleSoft and OneUSG Connect experience preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

ABILITIES
Advanced ability to pay close attention to details, work efficiently in a high-pressure deadline driven environment; proven ability to successfully resolve and manage conflict, ability to prioritize work to meet deadlines.

KNOWLEDGE
Requires understanding and ability to apply knowledge of accounting and auditing standards.
Preferred experience in in higher education, PeopleSoft, SQL, and Workday Financial.

SKILLS
Advanced level Excel proficiency, excellent time management skills, advanced analytical and problem-solving skills, and organizational skills.
