Job Description:


GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:


The Executive Director of the Reggie Lewis Track and Athletic Center (RLTAC) is responsible for determining and managing the full schedule of classes, events, and activities at the RLTAC including various track & field meets and college athletics. He/she is responsible for managing relationships with the RLTAC's key internal and external constituencies, including but not limited to, the RCC community, the high school track community, local community organizations, Boston Public Schools, and non-profits providing direct services to Greater Roxbury.


Additionally, the Executive Director sets the winter high school track and field schedule with input from the Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association (MIAA), the Massachusetts State Track Coaches Association (MSTCA), and the high school athletic directors. He/she is responsible for working with Campus Safety to ensure safety and security procedures are communicated and adhered to and with Facilities to ensure that the building is functioning well.


The Executive Director is committed to providing an exceptional athletic environment while adhering to College operations and providing documentation and oversight of RLTAC finances. The Executive Director should be experienced in both athletic and business operations. The Executive Director is also responsible for operating within the budget and raising additional funds through events and sponsorships.


SUPERVISION RECEIVED:


This position reports to the President of Roxbury Community College.

  • High School Track and Field staff
  • Seasonal event staff
  • Support staff

DUTIES:


  • Determine the Center schedule, ensuring that priorities are set according to the RLTAC's enabling legislation. Coordinate schedule of high school track; college athletics; credit and non-credit athletic classes; and all other events and activities.
  • Work closely with the Director of College athletics, VP of Instruction, and lifelong learning staff to ensure that academic programs, classes, and events are accommodated within the Center.
  • Make recommendations to senior leadership regarding RLTAC fees for consideration at the February Board of trustee meetings. Once the Board authorized the fees, the ED is responsible for operationalizing fees by implementing systems that check and balance their application.
  • Coordinate a daily and long-term maintenance schedule for the Center facilities, mechanicals, and equipment.
  • Ensure that College administrative policies (including HR, financial, security, and all other) and procedures, including those specific to the RLTAC are followed.
  • Ensure compliance with appropriate agencies including NJCAA, MIAA, accreditation, and State regulations.
  • Work with the President's Office to determine community partnerships to utilize the facilities.
  • Explore new opportunities for revenue generation, including corporate sponsorships, charging gate fees for spectators, and attracting new events.



Requirements:


QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration or other appropriate area: Master's Degree preferred.
  • Minimum of five (5) years administrative experience in an athletic environment, three of which are directly related to the operation and athletic or recreational track facility.
    • Experience in planning and budgeting and managing event transactions and contracts in non-profit or public sector.
    • Athletic staff management
    • Demonstrated experience managing national and local athletic events and conferences.
    • Data systems management and strong computer skills
  • Exceptional customer service, interpersonal skills and experience with public relations/promotions.
  • Familiarity with higher educational administration and campus organizational structure.
  • Proficiency in oral and written communication.
  • Prior substantial experience working with diverse, urban communities.
