Job Description Summary:

The search will remain open until the position has been filled. First consideration will be given to applications received by November 30, 2021. Second consideration may be given to applications received by December 15, 2021. Applications received subsequent to second consideration date (December 15, 2021) may not be given full consideration.

BASIC FUNCTION:

Work alone and with faculty, students, and other technical staff to design and construct experimental setups in support of undergraduate teaching activities. Assist in the running of laboratory courses. Maintain the operation of the Electrical Engineering laboratories.

Duties and Responsibilities:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Support the laboratory environments for courses in the Electrical Engineering curriculum including Capstone Design projects.

Requisition electronic equipment and other relevant components. Manage equipment inventories. Maintain and repair equipment. Construct and repair experimental setups. Develop and demonstrate hardware projects.

Supervise/instruct students in the use of the laboratory equipment.

Assist in the running of the laboratory courses.

Ensure that the installation and operation of equipment is safe with proper electrical protection.

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Perform additional duties as required.

LICENSES, TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT:

Personal computers, printers; word processing; electronic laboratory equipment (multimeters, signal generators, oscilloscopes, etc.)

Required Qualifications:

REQUIRED:

1. High school diploma or GED with a minimum three years of professional experience in the field of electronics/electrical engineering OR a Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering.

2. Demonstrated training in electronics.

3. Demonstrated strong verbal and interpersonal communication skills.

4. Demonstrated proficiency in written communication skills.

5. Demonstrated ability to work with diverse groups/populations.

Preferred Qualifications:

PREFERRED:

1. Demonstrated experience with circuit board design and layout software and fabrication equipment.

Since 2007, the University has invested $607 million in campus capital projects, including: a $150 million engineering complex, due to open in 2019; Brookside, another new apartment-style residence hall, 2019; a Welcome Center, 2018; the Rhode Island Nursing Education Center, 2017; Beaupre Center for Chemical and Forensic Sciences, 2016; and Avedisian Hall, home to the College of Pharmacy, 2012.
