Responsibilities

The 2 nd shift Security Guard (Point of Contact) is responsible for the safety and security of all employees, volunteers, and visitors, for the Center for the Performing Arts (CFPA) and serves as the liaison between security and the various CFPA tenants/staff. This position reports to 2nd shift security supervisor, and also is directed by 2nd shift supervisor as applicable.

    Serves as a Point of contact for all venues within the Ringling campus to include the Center For Performing Arts (CFPA). Serves as liaison between security and the various tenants/staff of the CFPA for the afternoon shift. Actively participates is the monthly CFPA Operations Meeting. Monitors facility supplies including first aid and office supplies and makes re-order recommendations to the supervisor. Submits facilities work orders through online work order system. Provides input regarding state of the department shared electronic drive directory. Patrols the CFPA and guards against theft, vandalism and other occurrences, potential or actual, which could result in loss or damage. Performs routine inspections of assigned posts/venues. Utilizes a golf cart, multi-line telephone and two-way radio. Monitors parking areas and surrounding exterior areas of venues. Follows the Ringling Security Operating Guidelines. Provides quality customer service and ensures the safety and security of all employees, volunteers, and visitors. Directs questions and concerns to appropriate contacts. Interacts with a diverse range of personalities. May perform as public safety officer in the absence of the Safety & Security Coordinator and Security Supervisors. Responds to incidents and emergencies, which may require the ability to walk significant distances and or climb/descend stairs quickly. Assists individuals involved in accidents or when injured on campus. Assists in execution of emergency plans concerning evacuation of venues in the event of fire, disasters, or other emergency situations. Prepares written reports of accidents, incidents, and general conditions as necessary. This position oversees and is assigned as the Parking Database Administrator for CFPA security. Issues new permits and maintains the database. Patrols the campus, assists with cashier drops, and closings of buildings. Assists in SOC in the event of emergencies or staffing shortages. Other duties/posts as assigned.
Qualifications High School Diploma or Equivalent.

    Valid Florida Driver's License or ability to obtain prior to hire. (Note: Learner's Permits are not acceptable)Ability to meet physical requirements as determined by position including but not limited to the ability to walk significant distances and extended period of time, climb/descend stairs quickly in order to respond to emergencies, and the ability to safely lift and operate a 50 pound fire extinguisher.

Within the first twelve months in the position, the incumbent must have completed all required training including but not limited to: First Aid Certification, Blood-borne Pathogens Training, Weather Spotter Certification, FEMA Online Incident Command System courses IS 235 and 240, Basic Campus Fire Suppression System Training, Cross Match Fingerprint Scanning Software Application Training.

Anticipated Salary Range

The rate of pay is $29,232 annually ($14 per hour) plus 5% shift differential. Learn more about our benefits package under the "Total Rewards" section.

Per FSU policy, Pay Additives, incumbents are eligible to receive shift differential pay. Eligibility may be assigned when an incumbent's scheduled working hours fall within the evening (between 6 PM and 12 AM) or night shift (12 AM and 6 AM), and is subject to provisions specified in applicable collective bargaining agreements, if any.

Schedule

Typical working hours are Tuesday - Saturday from 2:00PM to 10:30PM with a half hour meal period. Please note that days, evenings, weekends, special events, or holidays may be required based on the needs of The Ringling.

Criminal Background Check

This position requires successful completion of a criminal history background check, to include fingerprinting. The background check will be conducted as authorized and in accordance with University Policy 4-OP-C-7-B11.
