    The Electrical Engineering and Computer Science (EECS) Department in the College of Engineering at The University of Toledo (UToledo) in Toledo, Ohio, invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor beginning Fall 2022.

    We are lookingfor candidates who have demonstrated excellent capabilities orpotential in research and teaching.

    A complete application packet must include: (1)cover letter; (2) curriculum vitae; (3) two-page teaching philosophy and a listof courses the candidate is able to teach; (4) two-page research plan,including research lab infrastructure requirements, (5) two-page diversitystatement, including a plan for fostering a more inclusive environment,and (6) contact details of at least three professional references.

    Although all areas in the field of Computer Science will be considered, the department is particularly interested in candidates with a background in algorithms, software engineering, theory of computation, programming languages, visualization (AR/VR), database systems, and operating systems.

    The successful candidate will be expected to develop an externally-funded research program and teach CS courses at both the graduate and undergraduate levels.

    The College of Engineering is the largest collegeat UToledo and has received national recognition for its pursuit ofinclusive excellence, strong ties to industry, and itsintegrated mandatory co-op program, which is 1 of only 8 inthe nation.  Engineering faculty successfully collaborate withfaculty from other colleges, the UToledo Medical Center and severalDepartment of Energy national labs on a range of research projects involvinghealthcare, manufacturing, the environment, and sustainable energy. 

    The EECSdepartment is strongly committed to excellence in education and research. Westrive to educate our students to excel in engineering and computationalthinking through entrepreneurial-minded learning. Our integrated co-op programprovides every undergraduate student an opportunity to gain work experience andpractice problem-solving skills. Our undergraduate, MS, and Ph.D. students alsohave exposure to ideas, knowledge, and facilities from faculty performingcutting-edge research. Our EECS faculty has research projects funded byagencies, such as the National Science Foundation (including NSF CAREER award),Department of Energy, National Institutes of Health, NASA, U.S. Air Force, andOffice of Naval Research.

    A Ph.D., preferably in Computer Science, or a closely relatedfield is required at the time of joining the department.
