Job Details

The University of Lynchburg, a private coeducational liberal arts university, located in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains in central Virginia, is accepting applications for a full-time tenure-track position in Analytical Chemistry, in the Lynchburg College of Arts & Sciences, Department of Chemistry to begin August 2022.

We seek an individual with exceptional potential as a teacher and scholar who can contribute to our undergraduate programs and continue to support excellence in undergraduate student research.  

Normal teaching load is two lectures + lab courses per semester or an equivalent teaching load of 12 credit hours per semester. Teaching responsibilities include Analytical Chemistry for majors as well as Chemistry of Life labs for non-majors. The ideal candidate would also have interest in offering special topics courses such as Forensic Science and Environmental Chemistry. 

Teaching experience is desired, and a primary interest in teaching and mentoring undergraduates at a liberal arts institution is a must. A PhD is required by the start date. Preference will be given to candidates with experience in student research, evidence of potential for published work and ability to teach diverse populations. The selected candidate must successfully pass a background check that is satisfactory to the University.
