The Department of Linguistics, Languages, and Cultures at Michigan State University is seeking a one-time program leader for the summer study abroad program: German Language and Culture in Mayen. This is a short-term position for Summer Semester I 2022, with duties beginning May 16, 2022 and ending July 1, 2022. Responsibilities include teaching intermediate/advanced German language and culture in the immersive context of life in a small town in Germany; co-organizing and leading half- and full-day excursions in the region; organizing and leading group travel during the final week of the program to several cities across Germany; managing relations with the local support staff and host families in Mayen; overseeing and mentoring a graduate assistant and co-instructor; managing the program budget; assisting with program recruitment and student advising; holding pre-departure orientation meetings in the spring semester.
Position is planned to recur every Summer Semester

Prior experience studying and/or working in Germany
The ideal candidate will have substantial experience abroad, including either participation in or prior leadership of similar programs. Substantial experience teaching German language and culture through the third-year level.
