The Office of Community Engagement creates and supports workshops and programs that are external to the Graduate School of Social Work and offers hands-on training, professional development, and deep discussions. We provide a wide range of continuing education (CE) offerings for alumni and the wider community, most offered in a virtual format.

With diversity, equity and inclusion as our guiding principles, we cover topics that will help attendees enhance their professional skills, examine identities and how they interact with an attendee’s work, and advocate for social justice.

*All workshops include CE credits approved for clinical social work licensure in the State of Colorado. CE credits are equivalent to contact hours and they do not include accredited CEUs.

Position Summary 

We have three tiers of continuing education instruction.

Practitioner Series

We offer regular workshops on a variety of topics ranging from clinical practice to organizational leadership. These virtual trainings are typically 1-4 hours in length and meet the requirements for clinical social work licensure in the State of Colorado.

Civic Series

These workshops are a series of continuing education workshops designed to prepare you with the knowledge and skills to create social change. These lower cost workshops allow individuals to grow in their understanding of relevant issues, regardless of their discipline or level of experience.

Post-Master's Certificates

Our post-master's certificates offer the opportunity for professionals to develop new expertise or expand their skill set in an area of specialty. Although workshops are designed with a foundation of social work values, they are open to professionals in all disciplines. Attendees will earn a certificate of completion from the Graduate School of Social Work.

Expectations

• Once selected, we will be in touch with you to discuss timeline and process for course development and delivery
• Coordinate with OCE staff to share advance and follow-up materials

*This position is Online via Zoom; instructors must have reliable internet.

Preferred Qualifications 

• 2+ years of experience facilitating small and large groups
• Background in social work and/or diversity, equity and inclusion content
• Experience facilitating online programs /workshops

Required Qualifications

• Graduate degree or higher.
• 2 year or more of professional experience outside of internships.

Course Rate 

Compensation rate for this position will be $150 per workshop hour; compensation for development will be determined based on scope of work.

The University of Denver has provided a compensation range that represents its good faith estimate of what the University may pay for the position at the time of posting. The salary offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal salary equity considerations, and available market information, but not based on a candidate’s sex or any other protected status.
