Coe College seeks qualified applicants for a full-time tenure track (TT) appointment in the undergraduate BSN nursing program beginning August 2022.

Courses taught will include traditional and preceptored adult medical surgical clinical rotations, and maternal-child health as well as an introductory nursing research course. Candidates with clinical experience in maternal-child-newborn health are especially encouraged to apply. 

Coe’s nursing department currently includes 4 full-time, tenure-track faculty. Accredited through CCNE, the Coe College Nursing program has a strong commitment to provide intensive, hands-on clinical experiences for students. The successful candidate will have demonstrated effectiveness in the interactive classroom, outlined  research interests, and is committed to undergraduate mentoring and advising. Required Qualifications:

  • Active RN license 
  • Clinical experience in maternal-newborn or pediatric practice
  • Completed doctoral degree in Nursing or equivalent
  • Minimum of 1 year teaching experience in Nursing with positive teaching evaluations
  • Multicultural perspective in teaching, research, practice or service

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Evidence of ability to teach a maternal-child-newborn health course
  • Experience in supervising students and facilitating learning in the clinical setting
  • Student centered approach in the interactive classroom setting
  • Basic understanding of the Clinical Judgement Measurement Model and Next Generation NCLEX 
  • Experience in advising and mentoring undergraduate students 
  • Ability to contribute to General Education in the undergraduate setting

Coe College is a national, residential liberal arts college offering a broad array of programs in the arts, sciences and professions. The campus encompasses nearly 70 acres in the heart of Iowa’s second largest city, Cedar Rapids, and is adjacent to the MedQuarter Regional Medical District.

Coe’s nearly 70-acre campus includes 40 buildings and serves as an urban field station creating opportunities for students and faculty to research and study interaction of the city with the campus environment. An extension of campus includes Coe’s Wilderness Field Station, which is situated on 120 acres of land in the Boundary Waters of Minnesota. 

Recent capital improvement projects exceeding $40 million in investments include the renovation and expansion of Coe’s athletic facilities, renovation of Hickok Hall, an addition to and renovation of Peterson Hall of Science and renovation of Stewart Memorial Library to create the Learning Commons. 

For the past decade, nearly 100% of Coe graduates have been employed, in grad school, or engaging in public service within nine months of graduation. Our C3: Creativity, Careers, Community center is dedicated to working one-on-one with students to help them identify and land internship placements that match their unique interests and goals. Students can participate in one of over 40 off-campus study programs in Washington, DC; New York City; and dozens of foreign countries.
