Undergraduate Admissions Counselor

The Undergraduate Admissions Counselor (Professional Services Specialist IV) is a professional employee in the Office of University Admissions reporting to the Associate Director of Freshman Admissions. The Undergraduate Admissions Counselor is responsible for proactively recruiting undergraduate students especially freshmen and performing basic professional functions using established policies, procedures, precedents and guidelines. The Counselor represents the University in a variety of settings in-person and virtually; provides essential student support services and excellent customer service to prospective and current Kean University students and their families; and performs related work as required. This position requires extensive travel and a flexible schedule including evening and weekend hours.

This is not a remote position and requires physical presence on campus as determined by the Supervisor. It requires working on campus during the COVID-19 pandemic and interacting directly with students following all procedures and protocols set forth in the University’s Restart Plan and any procedures/protocols created through additional correspondence.

Qualifications: Graduation from an accredited college with a Bachelor’s degree; one year of professional experience in an enrollment management area in an institution of higher education or working directly with admissions, student recruitment and/or retention initiatives in a related field; transportation for recruitment travel; and a driver’s license valid in the State of New Jersey is required. Previous recruiter experience in an admissions office in an institution of higher education is preferred. Datatel Colleague and Ellucian Recruiter experience is also preferred. Essential job functions include driving and the ability to lift, handle and transport recruitment materials and equipment over short and long distances. Traveling will require the ability to drive for short and extended periods of time. Candidate must have excellent oral and written communication skills.
