Husson University's College of Science and Humanities invites applications for an Assistant Professor of Public Health to begin in fall 2022. The ideal candidate will have the academic background to teach online undergraduate or graduate courses in public health, global health, quantitative and qualitative research methods, and epidemiology. The successful candidate may also teach other online courses within the candidate's area of specialization.

This position has responsibilities for both face-to-face and online teaching, as well as other disciplinary and departmental responsibilities.

Husson University is a private institution of approximately 3500 undergraduate and graduate students located in Bangor, Maine. The University is dedicated to offering premier professional programs designed to maximize experiential learning opportunities and student success.The primary responsibilities of this position include teaching online courses for undergraduate students in the Healthcare Administration and Public Health major as well as graduate students in the Master of Public Health program. The successful candidate will also fulfill faculty expectations for teaching, undergraduate and graduate advising, service, and scholarship as outlined in university policies. The position requires teaching 24 credits of online courses per academic year.

Essential Functions:
  • Deliver online healthcare administration, public health, and other courses as assigned.
  • Be knowledgeable in the appropriate delivery of the content in an online format, use the MLS system Canvas, implement appropriate pedagogical techniques for the online environment, and provide student feedback and support in a professional, appropriate, clear, and rigorous manner.
  • Support development of online course curriculum as assigned.
  • Participate in assessment of program outcomes.
  • Use different learning modes and types of technology to engage students in an online environment.
  • Guide capstone projects in assigned programs as needed.
  • Advise students enrolled in the undergraduate Healthcare Administration and Public Health and/or online Master of Public Health program.
  • Support students with networking and career development.
  • Provide service to the College, particulate in admissions events, and interact with the internal and external community in a collegial and professional manner at all times.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

Requirements for the position include an earned master's degree in Public Health; doctoral degree in Public Health or a related field preferred, ABD considered. The successful candidate will demonstrate commitment to effective online teaching and student learning, and possess strong communication skills. Preference will be given to applications with previous higher education online teaching experience in the field of healthcare administration and public health.
