Description:

A full time post-doctoral fellow will provide early childhood mental health consultation services through the TIKES Infant and Early Chilhood Mental Health Consultation Program to children under the age of 6 years enrolled in early learning centers and family child care homes in Southern Louisiana and their childcare caregivers and families. Fellow should be able to clinically conceptualize a wide variety of cases involving young children and their caregivers with challenging behaviors, attachment and/or relationship problems, developmental delays, and/or other mental health issues and make appropriate referrals. Fellow will also provide consultation and training to multidisciplinary professionals. Visits to child care providers may be made in person or remotely through a HIPAA-compliant telehealth platform.  Program will provide personal protective equipment according to health department guidelines (e.g., cloth masks, hand sanitizer) for use during in person visits.

Training and supervision will be provided throughout the year. Opportunities for teaching and training may be available.


Qualifications:

Required Education and Experience

1. Successful completion of an APA-accredited internship by the start of the fellowship

2. PhD or PsyD in Clinical or Counseling Psychology from an APA-accredited program

Required Knowledge, Sills, Abilities/Competencies:

1.  Psychological assessment skills

2.  Interdisciplinary consultation and collaboration skills

3.  Individual and group therapy skills

4.  Completion of specialized training in infant mental health or capability to complete training in infant mental health

5.  Experience in a clinical setting working with children and adults (e.g., mental health clinic, practicum placement, etc.)

6.  Ability to provide training to other professionals and students

7.  Must have the necessary physical skills to complete consultations and required documentation

8.  Competent communication and writing skills

9.  Flexibility and ability to organize and manage time independently.
