The Vice Chair is responsible for overall management of the Section, to include direct oversight of the section, as well as ensuring that the highest quality of care continues to be delivered to Tulane University’s patients. Responsibilities include faculty recruitment, appointments and evaluations; educational, clinical and research programs; fiscal planning and management; and short and long-term strategic planning. The candidate will play an instrumental role in shaping the section and have accountability for the section's overall growth, including clinical care delivery, research enterprise building, enhancement of educational programs and global economic performance.

The Vice Chair will also oversee the education of medical students, residents and fellows and foster the continuing education of the section’s physicians and providers. The Vice Chair will also serve as an important spokesperson for the section at the local, regional and national level.
