Position Information: Description

The Athletic Department at the University of North Dakota is currently recruiting for a Director of Basketball Operations – Women’s Basketball. The purpose of this position is to direct the day-to-day operations for the UND Women’s Basketball program, including arranging all team travel, serve as summer camp director, assist in video coordination for coaches and team, assist in developing a competitive game schedule under the direction of the Women’s Basketball Head Coach, oversee travel and equipment budget, staff liaison for social media and serve as a liaison with the Ralph Engelstad Arena (REA) staff concerning team and visiting team practice and game scheduling. This position will also coordinate championship travel/post season participation in the NCAA, WNIT and/or WBI tournaments.  This position must have a commitment to compliance with all NCAA rules and regulation, and must provide support, encouragement, and ensure the safety & well-being of the student-athletes.

The purpose of UND Athletics is to initiate, stimulate and improve the athletics program for student-athletes to promote and develop their education leadership, physical fitness, athletic excellence and provide opportunities for participation in a sport of choice.  Its competitive athletics program is designed to be a vital part of the University of North Dakota’s education system by stressing the importance of each student-athlete being an active part of the student body while making satisfactory progress toward a baccalaureate degree.

Duties & Responsibilities
    Oversee all administrative aspects of the Women’s Basketball program.Arrange team travel to include: buses, hotel accommodations, meals, commercial and /or charter flights, itineraries, handling of all money and complete post-trip expense reports.Prepare and submit team travel forms to UND Athletics Business Office. Coordinate complimentary tickets for players and coaches for away & home games. Staff liaison for social media (Twitter, Instagram, Facebook & Snapchat).Renew coaching memberships & organize coaches Final Four Trip.  Assist in video coordination for coaches and team.Assist in developing a competitive game schedule under the direction of the head coach.Coordinate end-of-the-year banquet.Assist coaching staff in all aspects of the program within NCAA bylaws.Plan, develop and coordinate all aspects of all UND Women’s Basketball camps & clinics.Prepare all payroll hiring paperwork, hire workers and develop camp schedules.Complete all data entry for all camper registrations.Responsible for scheduling practices and shoot-around times for home and away teams.Serve as facilities liaison between The Betty Engelstad Sioux Center, the Hyslop Sports Center, and the University Wellness Center.Responsible for the master calendar throughout the year, organizing practice times with Men’s Basketball, Volleyball, Women’s Soccer, and facilities. Coordinate a master class schedule of all athletes & oversee coordination of study table.Keep track of practice hours, including individual workouts, strength & conditioning, and team practice hours.Complete and submit occasional meal forms, community service hours, and other compliance-related items.  Communicate with Summit League on conference game schedules each year.Create a competitive non-conference schedule.Talk with other non-conference programs about scheduling details, including game dates, guarantee amounts, and other gameday logistics.Keep statistics on bench and in practice.Keep track of individual fouls, minutes played, and team fouls.Participate and assist in all on-campus recruiting.Organize a scout team for practices and deal with all compliance related issues.Follow all NCAA, conference, and UND rules & regulations.Other duties as assigned by Head Coach.
Required Competencies
    Excellent interpersonal, communication (verbal and written) and organizational skills.Detail-oriented with an ability to multi-task, organize, and prioritize.Excellent computer skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).Ability to work with a diverse group of students, coaches, faculty, and staff.Must have a commitment to NCAA compliance and follow all NCAA, conference, and UND rules & regulations.Must provide support and encouragement and ensure the safety and well-being of the student-athletes, including having a valid driver’s license.
Minimum Requirements
    Bachelor's degree.Minimum of two (2) seasons of coordinating basketball operations at the collegiate level as a full-time employee and/or graduate assistant.Experience working with coaching staff on coordinating all aspects of prospective student-athlete visits, coaches recruiting travel, recruiting weekends, and overall recruiting coordination within NCAA bylaws.Experience in all aspects of basketball camps.Experience in coordinating collegiate basketball team travel.Successful completion of criminal history background check.Valid Driver's License.

Preferred Qualifications
    Experience with Synergy and/or Hudl video editing software for basketball.Experience with managing basketball social media accounts including, but not limited to, Twitter & Instagram. Experience managing a team budget, including travel.Experience budgeting/ordering/distributing equipment for a basketball team. Experience with alumni, community relations, and outreach.   Experience with monitoring academic progress of basketball student-athletes. Experience coordinating and managing CARA hours.Experience with collegiate basketball at the NCAA Division I level.
Minimum Hiring Salary/Position Classification$39,000/year - $42,200/year. Full-time, Benefitted position.

Work Schedule/Start DateTravel expected up to 25% of the time for team competitions.  Desired start date to be communicated during interview process.
