Job Summary: The Academic Advisor I is an entry level advising position. Under direct supervision, the Advisor I will be engaged in academic advising activities that support UA at the institution or college level.
Additional Department Summary: Directs the academic advising of all UA Early College students with the responsibility for developing each student’s annual plan of study, overseeing approval of academic plans, and ensuring that students enroll in appropriate academic courses. Coordinate communication between appropriate UAEC faculty and staff, UAEC parents, and high school personnel. Maintain appropriate database systems and records. Assist in marketing, recruiting, and coordination of delivery of UA Early College programs and services.
Required Department Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree and one (1) year of work experience in K-12, higher or continuing education, or technology. Requires flexibility to work day, night, weekends, and occasional travel. Must have valid U.S. driver's license. Must be at least 21 years of age at time of hire and have an acceptable Motor Vehicle Report that is in compliance with University policies.
Skills and Knowledge: Requires ability to plan, develop, and administer academic advising with exceptional interpersonal communication skills. Demonstrate ability to work with diverse groups of high school-age students and educators. Basic computer skills (Word, Excel, Outlook).
Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in education, instructional technology, communications, or business. Experience with database management. Experience with customer relationship management systems. Experience with UA systems (i.e. Banner, SARS).
