The Joint Department of Biomedical Engineering spans North Carolina’s two flagship universities: The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (UNC-CH) and North Carolina State University (NC State). Essential Job Duties:

The Joint Department of Biomedical Engineering at the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill & North Carolina State University invites applications for Associate Professor of the Practice / Associate Director of the MS-TraIn program.

This position will develop course materials and deliver content for at least one course related to medical device innovation in the MS-TraIn curriculum per academic year. As Associate Director of the MS-TraIn program, this position will ensure that the content of the curriculum: 1) is consistent with current best practices in medical device innovation; and 2) prepares graduates to participate in early stage ventures or in the medical device industry in advanced roles.

Other Responsibilities:

Perform other duties as assigned by the department head.

Minimum Education and Experience:

Requires a doctoral degree, an equivalent degree, or equivalent professional experience in Biomedical Engineering or a related field with industry experience in the design and development of medical devices and experience teaching at the graduate level.

Applicants with a combination of a degree and experience equivalent to a doctorate degree and with exceptional records of scholarship, evidence of graduate level instruction and expertise in the field may be considered.

Other Required Qualifications:

Experience developing and delivering graduate course(s) in medical device innovation.

Preferred Qualifications:

Demonstrated commitment to excellence in teaching of BME graduate course(s).
