The Joint Department of Biomedical Engineering spans North Carolina’s two flagship universities: The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (UNC-CH) and North Carolina State University (NC State). The Joint Department of Biomedical Engineering at the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill & North Carolina State University invites applications for Associate Professor of the Practice / Associate Director of the MS-TraIn program.

This position will develop course materials and deliver content for at least one course related to medical device innovation in the MS-TraIn curriculum per academic year. As Associate Director of the MS-TraIn program, this position will ensure that the content of the curriculum: 1) is consistent with current best practices in medical device innovation; and 2) prepares graduates to participate in early stage ventures or in the medical device industry in advanced roles.

Perform other duties as assigned by the department head.

Requires a doctoral degree, an equivalent degree, or equivalent professional experience in Biomedical Engineering or a related field with industry experience in the design and development of medical devices and experience teaching at the graduate level.

Applicants with a combination of a degree and experience equivalent to a doctorate degree and with exceptional records of scholarship, evidence of graduate level instruction and expertise in the field may be considered.

Experience developing and delivering graduate course(s) in medical device innovation.

Demonstrated commitment to excellence in teaching of BME graduate course(s).
