The College of Education (COE) and the Florida Center for Reading Research (FCRR) at the Florida State University invite applications for an assistant or associate professor tenured-position.

Responsibilities

The position will involve teaching, research, and service within the COE, and will include a joint appointment with FCRR. The position carries a reduced teaching assignment with correspondingly high expectations for research productivity.

Candidates will be expected to maintain a rigorous grant writing and research program, teach undergraduate and graduate level courses in their program, train doctoral students, and participate in university governance commensurate with rank.

The successful candidate will have a tenure home in one of three programs within the COE: Reading/Language Arts, Special Education, or Educational Psychology. The candidate will be expected to maintain a rigorous grant writing and research program, including competitive external- and federally-funded research grants. The candidate will also teach undergraduate, masters, and doctoral level classes within their program, and train doctoral students through active participation in their research program. The candidate will also be expected to participate in university governance in the department, college, and FCRR, at a level that is commensurate with the rank of an assistant tenure-track professor or a tenured associate professor.

Qualifications Ph.D. in Reading Education, Special Education, Educational Psychology or the highest degree appropriate in the field of specialization from an accredited institution with a demonstrated record of achievement in teaching, academic research, and service by time of appointment.

Preferred Qualifications

Applicants with expertise and research interests in issues related to reading among adolescents (late-elementary to secondary students) are especially encouraged to apply.
