Job Description:


Budget title: Division I Assistant Athletic Director (SL-4)


Salary: Commensurate with experience


Binghamton University, a NCAA Division I institution and member of the America East Conference, is seeking an Assistant Athletic Director for Marketing. This position will focus on the marketing and promoting of all 21 of Binghamton University's Division I sports teams. Duties include:


  • Responsible for developing strategic marketing plans with key focus on maximizing ticket revenue, increasing fan attendance and enhancing the Binghamton brand with a particular focus on the game day experience for the Men's and Women's Basketball programs
  • Responsible for coordinating all marketing and promotional activities surrounding athletic contests and selected other athletic sponsored events
  • Coordinate the design and production of marketing print and digital materials
  • Collaborates with student organizations and student body in order to develop ways to increase student attendance at athletic events
  • Implement season and individual ticket campaigns
  • Oversight of all advertising, includes producing and distributing advertising and promotional materials designed to promote athletic programs and events
  • Create and implement strategies to maximize game atmosphere opportunities and in-game promotional activities to produce remarkable experiences for fans
  • Plan and coordinate all pre-game, half-time and post-game promotions and activities
  • Work with the Assistant Athletic Director for Corporate Partnerships to implement contractual in-game elements of partnership agreements
  • Work with civic and youth groups to conduct special promotional day/nights at various events
  • Coordinate the event scripts for ticketed home athletic contests
  • Plan and execute special promotional nights
  • Select, train and supervise the Marketing Assistants and student interns
  • Serve as liaison for the band, spirit groups, campus organizations and game entertainment performers for game environment
  • Oversee and manage the Jr. Bearcat Club, including increasing membership and developing activities for members
  • Organize and implement pre-season Hoop Fest and pre-season basketball events
  • Member of team that organizes and implements events including the Celebrating Women's Athletics Luncheon, Bearcats Golf Classic and the Student-Athlete Awards Banquet
  • Attend meetings, represent the department on committees and maintain relationships with several groups on and off campus including the Office of Residence Life, Division of Student Affairs, Alumni Association, Office of Communications and Marketing, America East Conference and NCAA
  • Create, manage and distribute bi-weekly electronic "Bearcats Bulletin" newsletter
  • Coordinates department donation requests
  • Assist with ticket operations in the Ticket Sales Manager's absence


Requirements:


  • Bachelor's degree
  • At least 2 years of experience in marketing within an intercollegiate athletics department or professional sports organization
  • Willingness and ability at times to work non-standard schedule, including evenings and weekends related to events and competition schedules
  • Strong computer background with working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Adobe Software

Preferred:


  • Master's degree
  • Experience with Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, Dreamweaver, and other similar graphic design software

History

Binghamton University opened its doors as Triple Cities College in 1946, to serve the needs of local veterans returning from service in World War II. Originally located in Endicott, N.Y., five miles west of the present campus, the fledgling school was a branch of Syracuse University.

Four years later, the college was incorporated into the State University of New York (SUNY) and renamed Harpur College in honor of Robert Harpur, a Colonial teacher, patriot and pioneer who helped settle the area west of Binghamton.

In 1961, the campus moved across the Susquehanna River to Vestal. Growing enrollment and a reputation for excellence soon led to the selection of Harpur College as one of four doctorate-granting University Centers in the SUNY system.

In 1965, the campus was formally designated the State University of New York at Binghamton, and in 1992, Binghamton University was adopted as our informal name.
