Job Information The Division of Health Economics and Modeling serves as a resource for the Augusta University community and beyond. The HEM division was created in response to the growing need among medical professionals, health care researchers, and students for support in health economic evaluations and health care modeling. The HEM division is composed of faculty members with experience in health economics, advanced mathematical modeling of disease, and health policy. By combining the research, administrative and education expertise of a diverse group of members, the MCG HEM division represents a truly multidisciplinary team. The Department of Population Health Sciences in the Medical College of Georgia at Augusta University was established in 2017 to strengthen the public medical school’s impact on the health of Georgia. The broader mission of the department is to understand, preserve and improve the health human populations through research, training, and community engagement, especially focusing on the health of Georgians. It will enable scientists and educators to pursue and share a more comprehensive perspective on who are getting sick, what they have and why, and which targeted interventions and treatments are most effective for them.Job Summary Job ID: 234703Position #: 40029960 Augusta University, home of the Medical College of Georgia (MCG), invites applications for the position of an Assistant Professor in the Division of Health Economics and Modeling (HEM) of the MCG Department of Population Health Sciences (DPHS). To develop an independent research agenda in the areas of health economics, health policy, and/or health outcomes research, and contribute to and lead departmental academic programs. Research and scholarship responsibilities include establishing an innovative and independent research program that will attract and maintain extramural funding from government agencies, private foundations, and industry. The successful candidate will be expected to teach in the graduate curriculum of the Department and contribute to the Department's mission through service. The ideal candidate will be expected to develop an independent research agenda in the areas of health economics, health policy, and/or health outcomes research, and contribute to and lead departmental academic programs. The successful candidate will be expected to teach in the graduate curriculum of the Department and contribute to the Department’s mission through service.Required Qualifications Doctoral degree in Economics or related discipline such as Health Economics, Applied Economics, Health Outcomes/Services Research, or Public Policy, from an accredited college or university.Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Demonstrated interest in teaching and mentoring.
Excellent oral and written communication skills and interpersonal skills.Demonstrated research experience (publications in peer-reviewed journals, extramural funding) in health economics modeling, systematic reviews and meta-analysis, cost-effectiveness analysis, and/or health policy.Shift/Salary Academic rank, tenure status and salary to be commensurate with qualifications and experience of the selected candidate.Conditions of Employment All candidates are required to successfully pass a Background Check review.
