Position Summary

This role is open until filled!
Performs skilled maintenance and mechanical duties district-wide, such as HVAC, carpentry, electrical, plumbing and landscaping. Also supervises temporary employees and student workers. This position will be required to be on-call on a rotation basis and needs to work occasional weekends or evenings. This position is a full-time, 12 month, benefit eligible position. As a requirement of this position the incumbent is required to have a Hepatitis B and tetanus shot.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Diagnoses, services, and repairs problems related to computerized energy management systems.
  • Performs carpentry, which includes painting, repairing damaged walls and doors, and creating unique items desired by the college.
  • Services and repairs HVAC units. Also performs electrical and plumbing repairs as needed.
  • Maintains records of work orders, service logs, preventative maintenance schedules and other related files.
  • Purchases and places orders for materials, supplies and equipment.
  • Performs various custodial/ housekeeping duties, such as emergency clean-up.
  • Sets up and takes down furniture and equipment for special events
  • Performs snow removal duties that includes, but is not limited to shoveling, plowing, operating snow blower, back hoe, Bobcat, and other various equipment.
  • Ability to work independently or as a team to complete a task with little to no supervision.
  • Ability to recognize and make repairs as necessary and report to supervisor.
  • Ability to read and understand blue prints and building plans.
  • Delivers, picks up materials, and performs other related errands.
  • Maintains the grounds and performs gardening duties.
  • Display’s a positive attitude.
  • Position is subject to 24-hour call back for emergencies and snow removal.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

    Knowledge of general office procedures and practices. Knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word computer applications. Skilled in performing maintenance and custodial duties. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other staff, supervisor, and the general public. Bi-lingual (Spoken/Manual) a plus.

    Minimum Qualifications

    Minimum Qualifications
    High School diploma or GED, and 4 years of experience in general maintenance; or any equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job and/or as approved by the Human Resources department.

    5 years of maintenance experience preferred. Highly knowledgeable in one or more trades (HVAC, plumbing, carpentry, electrical)
    EPA certification - Universal Certification preferred
