Job Summary

The scope of this position is content creation and brand management for the Faculty of Business & Government through social media, video, and the website. The goal is to communicate with existing students, prospective students, and alumni through engaging and professional online content.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Attend all mandatory Student TA training and orientation held on a college and department level.
  • Social Media Management—Create and maintain both Instagram and Facebook account for the faculty unit. Make at least 5 posts/stories per week to convey information and to create student engagement. Content creation for the accounts would be in the following areas: student profiles, alumni profiles, polls, new classes (such as 390R), reinforcing university announcements, job openings on campus and PCC, internship opportunities, videos, etc. Identifying the content to be posted is a part of this role and is done by proactively approaching faculty members and program leads. This position also responds/interacts with student posts. When applicable, social media content is cross-promoted with social media accounts within the faculty unit (such as clubs) and other programs on campus that have their own social media accounts. These cross-promotion opportunities are identified as the student follows social media accounts across campus. The position also makes closed captioning and other accommodations for individuals with disabilities who follow the accounts.

Social Media Takeovers—BYUH students will occasionally be given the opportunity to “take over” a social media account to interact with their peers. This student position oversees this effort by reviewing content prior to posting, maintaining online standards with what is posted, finding students to conduct the takeovers, etc. Another part is answering student messages through direct messages (DMs) in a timely manner.

Video Creation & Editing—Create (or oversee the creation of) 2-3 videos per month that are posted to social media. These videos are part of the content creation explained above. In addition, short video profiles will be created for the students of the semester (awarded at the end-of-the-semester banquets) and for new faculty members.

Website Content Management—Update the content of the B&G Faculty website, as needed. Some of the content for the social media accounts will also be posted to the website (such as videos and profiles) under the guidelines and training provided by University Communications. Other updates will be for static content.

    KPIs

KPIs for this position include the following:

  • Creating engaging social media content, measurable through analytics of the platforms
  • Increasing the number of current B&G students who follow the accounts
  • Retaining current B&G students as they become alumni
  • Making 5 or more posts per week
  • Creating 2-3 videos posted per week
