Job SummaryThe Part-Time Lab Instructor provides academic support and supplemental instruction to Mathematics students, including developmental through College level mathematics.
Duties & Responsibilities- Serves as a role model and motivates students to achieve their academic needs
- Serves as a resource for the primary instructor
- Actively provides tutorial assistance and academic coaching
- Attends tutor trainings and required meetings
- Collaborates with the primary instructor and administers tests, quizzes, or other assignments
- Meets with assigned classes in a regular classroom at scheduled times each week
- Answers students' questions regarding the assignments, and reviews materials as requested
- Monitors academic progress, maintains students' records and attendance rosters
- Monitors on-site computer resources and guides students to use the educational software at the labs
- Provides assistance with registration for students in the scheduled lab
- Performs other duties as assigned
- Bachelor's degree in Mathematics or related field from a regionally accredited institution and one (1) year of teaching or related experience
- All educational degrees must be from a regionally accredited institution
- Knowledge and understanding of College organization, goals and objectives and policies and procedures
- Possess well-developed communication skills (Verbal and Written)
- Knowledge and understanding of student and faculty requirements for lab procedures, skills, and testing
- Ability to positively interact with staff, students, and faculty
- Knowledge of computer applications and educational technologies for academic support
- Possess an aptitude for teaching and interest in working with students
- Ability to work a flexible schedule to include evening and weekend assignments
- Ability to work well in a multi-ethnic and multi-cultural environment with students, faculty and
- staff
The final candidate is to successfully complete a background screening and reference check process.
