Research Technician 1

Media Prep

A full-time research technician position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Neal Stewart within the Department of Plant Sciences. This position is grant-funded and continued employment is contingent upon funding. The researcher will assist in the improvement of plants through genetic engineering to help address real world challenges in agriculture and the environment. A qualified candidate must be experienced in the preparation of media and buffers as well as sterilizing laboratory consumables. Preference will be given experience with sterile tissue culture, PCR analysis, plasmid DNA isolation, and restriction enzyme digestion. Preference will also be given to candidates knowledgeable in plant care and greenhouse maintenance. Lab website: https://plantsciences.tennessee.edu/racheff/



Qualifications
Requirements:

  • Bachelors degree in plant biology, molecular biology, genetics, biochemistry, or any other related field.
  • Preference will be given to applicants with experience, excellent problem-solving skills, and considerable drive and motivation. Further, the position requires excellent written and oral communication skills and the ability to work in a highly interdisciplinary team-based environment.
  • The applicant must be willing to work in a team environment.
