Description:

The University of Florida seeks a talented and experienced leader to serve as Dean of the College of Public Health and Health Professions. The College of Public Health and Health Professions is focused on preserving, promoting, and improving the health and well-being of populations and individuals.  The mission of the College is to shape tomorrow’s public health and health professionals through dynamic and responsive educational programs, transformational research, groundbreaking discoveries, and equitable health-related service. Our collaborations within the College and beyond advance the breadth of knowledge, the quality of science, and the attainment of professional distinction. 

The College offers a diverse variety of degree programs as well as several certificate programs.  By combining the population perspective of public health with the patient focus of health professions disciplines, the continuum of care is covered from prevention and treatment to rehabilitation that supports the health and well-being of communities and individuals.

The Dean is the chief academic and administrative leader of the College, and works collaboratively with faculty, staff, and students to advance the College’s mission areas.  The Dean is responsible for all matters related to the administration of the College, including academic programs, faculty, students, staff, facilities, budget, alumni relations, fundraising, and coordination and collaboration with other academic and operating units of UF and UF Health.  

The Dean of Public Health and Health Professions reports to the Senior Vice President for Health Affairs and President of UF Health (SVPHA), and will be a proven academic leader with demonstrated ability to engage with faculty and staff constituencies to develop and execute a vision in support of the College’s broad educational, research, clinical, and public service missions. The role requires an ability to collaborate and build successful internal and external partnerships and demonstrated success in contributing to institutional diversity, equity, and inclusion goals.


Qualifications:

Progressive executive management experience in a leading academic or multidisciplinary institution affiliated with public health or health professions. Recruitment, retention, and development of outstanding cohorts of faculty, staff and students. Success contributing to institutional diversity, equity, and inclusion goals.

Broad recognition for scholarship with M.D., Ph.D., or other applicable terminal degree and achievement commensurate with a tenured faculty appointment at the rank of professor in a representative College discipline.
