Description
The Technical Support Engineer 1 for computer lab systems will focus on supporting the audio and video applications and media facilities in the TECH Center computer lab, and the digital signage and alerting systems. This position assists with lab coverage as assigned, and supervising student workers on that shift. Responsible for level 2 and level 3 troubleshooting for assigned computers in the ITS Lab operations group and will be asked to assist in troubleshooting and setup for other departments. Will be responsible for building images and deployment of signage PCs. Will assist with the technical operations and maintenance of the Four Winds digital signage system and student alerting systems, on-boarding new users of the system, and supporting users. This position will assist in creating specs for equipment upgrades within budgetary constraints for signage users, and planning and implementing upgrades for digital signage. This position will also be responsible for the TECH Center media facilities (recording booths and media studio, support, maintenance, planning and implementing upgrades. This position will also assist with the emergency notification systems. Responsible for emergency calls for on-call hours during nights/weekends, and act as a scheduled backup for the primary on-call engineer. Looks at currently used tools and technologies to maximize value for the university community. Works with other departments in ITS and the university on new technology initiatives. Performs other duties as assigned.
Regularly scheduled hours will be 1pm-10pm Tuesdays-Thursdays, 8am-5pm Fridays, 10:00am-7pm Saturdays during the fall and spring semesters. The schedule will change during breaks, summer, intersession periods, and the regular schedule may change depending on university needs, or if coverage is needed during a weather emergency. This is an on-premises position.

Required Education & Experience:
Bachelor’s degree and at least two (2) years of directly related technical experience. Experience with video and audio editing software (e.g. Adobe Premiere, Audacity, ProTools). Experience with PC and Mac hardware and software troubleshooting. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Required Skills & Abilities:
* Demonstrated understanding of video editing hardware, lighting.
* Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills along with the ability to effectively interact with a diverse group of indididuals.
* Intermediate mobile device troubleshooting and configuration. 
* Basic understanding of Active Directory Administration. 
* Working knowledge of Microsoft Office 2019/365.
* Intermediate printing troubleshooting skills.
* Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud.
* Ability to work the following days/shifts:
1pm-10pm Tuesdays-Thursdays, 8am-5pm Fridays, 10:00am-7pm Saturdays during the fall and spring semesters. Flexibility will be required during intersessions and breaks.

Preferred:
* Experience with digital signage system content management software (e.g. Four Winds)
* Experience with alerting system software (e.g. Rave, Alertus)
* Experience with equipment loan software (e.g. WebCheckout)
* Experience with printing administration software (e.g. Pharos Uniprint)
