Position Summary

This research position is integral to an NIH funded study aimed at understanding the utility of a personalized medicine approach to the identification of source(s) and antigen(s) relevant to individuals diagnosed with Hypersensitivity Pneumonitis. The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting with the recruitment of prospective study subjects, mailing of study-related materials, scheduling appointments (phlebotomy, exposure assessment and environmental sample collection), tracking workflow, ordering of study related supplies, data review and report generation. This individual will also be present during exposure assessment interviews (virtual or in-person) and will be responsible for collection and/or pickup of environmental and biological samples and transport/shipping of these samples to campus laboratories.

Unit Specific Education/Experience/Skills

Knowledge normally acquired by completing a four-year college degree program in environmental science, public health or a related field; 6 months to one year of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience working directly with research subjects (e.g. initial contact, phone interviews), project/data tracking, medical record abstraction and report generation consistent with those normally required in research settings. Experience working as part of a team is a must.

Desired Qualifications

In addition to those listed above, the successful candidate will have demonstrated attention to detail, be proficient in MS Word, MS PowerPoint and MS Excel. As travel to homes of study subjects is necessary, a valid Michigan driver’s license is required.
