Position Summary:

The Application Analyst Associate works under general supervision applying established techniques, procedures or specific standards. Work is reviewed for soundness of judgment and overall accuracy. The Application Analyst executes policies at the direction of EITS leadership and makes recommendations for improvement. Approval of assigned task(s) is needed by Director, IT Manager, and/or immediate supervisor.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies:

- Strong IT business analysis skills, including demonstrated skills in creating business requirements documents.
- Strong technical skills, including demonstrated skills in web programming and database design.
- Knowledge of Java & JSP, ASP.NET C#, or PHP and proficiency in running SQL queries against RDBMS such as DB2 or Oracle or SQL Server.
- Strong interpersonal skills, good organizational abilities, and willingness to learn.
- Ability to work independently and see projects through to completion.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to communicate with all levels of management.

Duties/Responsibilities:

Application Analysis

  1. Analyze, modify, and enhance enterprise applications and services based on client requests, business requirements, and analyst/supervisor’s instructions.
  2. Provide IT support to clients in requirements gathering, problem resolution, and project status reporting in coordination with analyst/supervisor.
  3. Participate in the planning, designing, testing, documenting, and installation of enterprise applications and services.
  4. Review completed projects for accuracy and adherence to department standards.
  5. Author comprehensive, meaningful, technical documentation of project specifications, implementation, operation, and troubleshooting for technical support staff.
  6. Interact with clients and application and systems administrators to implement system policies and coordinate appropriate change management processes.

Application Development/Testing

  1. Modify, design, develop, test, implement, and document enterprise applications and services using provided, state-of-the-art, development tools, and programming languages and database structures.
  2. Support application integration, while remaining mindful of the technical relationships, dependencies, and hardware/software requirements of each project.
  3. Development applications against SQL Server and other database structures as necessary.
  4. Assist in development of test plans, run tests, track results, and investigate, identify, and correct issues.
  5. Author and maintain detailed, meaningful documentation of assigned systems and programs.
  6. Execute and report status of assigned project tasks/milestones based on priorities and guidance from the analyst/supervisor.

  1. Attend and participate in staff meetings, submit regular status reports, learn, and adhere to EITS standards and practices.
  2. Work with colleagues to strengthen collective expertise in the software tools we use, the programming methodologies we implement, the products we develop and support.
  3. Maintain awareness of developing technologies, acquire, and apply new technical skills, and share new knowledge with colleagues.
  4. Participate in training, mentoring, and skills development opportunities.
  5. Participate in organizational committees and events.
