Position Summary:

The Application Analyst will be responsible for working on a variety of applications for the University of Georgia. The Application Analyst will design, develop, test, and maintain new and existing applications in support of our central Identity and Access Management (IAM) solutions. This position will serve as an analyst and developer for the Identity Management team. This position will be responsible for ensuring that appropriate security measures are taken to safeguard data and systems.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies:

Experience with identity and access management tools and systems including One Identity Manager, SQL, Linux and Windows servers, Active Directory, LDAP, and Single Sign-on authentication solutions and protocols such as multi-factor authentication, CAS, SAML, and OIDC.

Experience with task and project management, ability to communicate with clients, and knowledgeable about standard security practices.

Duties/Responsibilities:

I. Formulate strategy and work plans to configure and enhance the Identity Management System and Single Sign on system to meet campus needs regarding assignment, management, and use of campus identifiers including the UGAID, MyID, and others as needed. Capture and translate user requirements, oversee development of use cases and specifications seeking input from functional and technical users.
* Consult with clients, technical staff and others on access and integration issues. Provide system design services to clients at both enterprise and client department levels of the organization.
* Direct, supervise and coordinate efforts of application analysts and programmers in planning, designing, testing, documenting, and installing information systems.
* Lead and develop effective working relationships between IT and client community to maintain ongoing awareness of IAM architecture and needs. Recommend technology and propose solutions to meet customer requirements.
* Define, develop, and implement applications systems for computing needs that reflect client requests.
* Determine detailed program and data requirements.
* Design programs from business requirements.
* Interact with user and systems management to plan and implement system policies.
* Implement best practice design and security
* Write program and project specifications for support staff. Review completed project for accuracy and adherence to department standards.

II. Identifies and provides solutions to broad, complex, and critical work to address a primary identifier, implementation of access rights, single sign-on initiatives, and other issues. Develops secure solutions, recommend alternatives, and provides risk assessments.
* Contribute by analyzing systems requirements, specifications and defining, developing, and implementing applications systems for university needs that reflect client requests.
* Implement the UGA alternative identifiers as directed by senior leadership and functional units.
* Determine detail program and data requirements.
* Review and approve program and project specifications for support staff. * Review projects for accuracy and adherence to department standards.
* Direct support of production application system operation as needed.
* Adhere to and effectively communicate pre-established guidelines and standards.
* Identify program problems (debug/troubleshoot); formulate and implement appropriate corrections.
* Develop software solutions to satisfy customer ad hoc requirements.

III. Support of production application system operations including software solutions and project management.
* Oversee and direct the production support for IAM and single sign-on applications and tools to maintain support of a 24/7/365 operation.
* Adhere to and effectively communicate pre-established guidelines and standards.
* Identify program problems (debug/troubleshoot); formulate and implement appropriate corrections.
* Develop software solutions to satisfy customer and hoc requirements.
* Working knowledge of or proven capability to quickly learn structured programming languages(s), database management systems, and other tools to be utilized/supported in the hiring operating unit.
* Demonstrate project management skills.
* Ability to acquire new technical skills, apply those skills in the development of software solutions, and effectively convey new knowledge to colleagues.

Works collaboratively with EITS management, functional users, Identity Management team and project managers to develop and use project management methodology, techniques, tools, and solutions. * Utilizes “best practices” and implementation methodology while designing and implementing solutions for clients.
* Develops methods and techniques to improve the process of delivering solutions to clients.
* Develops and fosters a collaborative working relationship with clients.

V. Coordinate management of information and requirements from/to EITS senior management and immediate supervisor.
* Efficiently and effectively maintains the status of projects via software designated by EITS senior management based on pre-established guidelines.

* Reports major activities, successes, solutions, and problems to immediate supervisor.
