Minimum Qualifications::

For this position, candidates must have at least one of the following:

1. Master’s degree or higher in economics from an accredited college or university; OR

2. Bachelor’s degree in economics AND a Master’s degree or higher in business, business administration, business management, business education, finance, or political science from an accredited college or university; OR

3. Valid California Community College instructor credential appropriate to the subject per Education Code 87355 (issued prior to July 1, 1990); OR

4. A combination of education and experience that is at least the equivalent of items 1 or 2 above.

Experience Required::

• Three (3) years full-time (or equivalent part-time) recent and successful experience teaching lower division principles of microeconomics and macroeconomics classes.

Desired Qualifications::

Preference will be given to those candidates demonstrating a high level of expertise on the basis of:
Recent and successful experience teaching lower division principles of microeconomics and/or macroeconomics, preferably at the community college level. • Graduate coursework in the areas of mathematical economics, econometrics, global economics, international economics, environmental economics, real estate economics, and/or financial planning • Knowledge of and ability to integrate computer technology in the classroom and be able to use such technology to offer curriculum and instruction through distance delivery modes, as appropriate. • Demonstrated knowledge of current and emerging instructional and educational delivery technologies. • Demonstrated, strong commitment to quality teaching, student success, and academic excellence. • Strong interpersonal skills. • Knowledge of different instructional modalities to match different student learning styles. • Experience in curriculum development in economics. • Experience in online delivery of instruction in principles of economics. • Experience in development and assessment of student learning outcomes. • Experience in program review of an academic department. • Interest in networking within the community to promote economic education and internship opportunities. • Evidence of and understanding of the diverse ways in which the needs of students are met on a community college campus, including through faculty leadership positions, committee representation, and collaboration at the department, division, college, and district levels.

Summary of Duties and Responsibilities::

Instruct courses in economics with the primary assignment in microeconomics. Assignments may include evening, weekend, and online courses. Participate in the development and revision of curriculum in department and college committees and in professional development activities. Maintain current knowledge in the discipline of economics and in effective teaching/learning strategies. Maintain appropriate standards of professional conduct and ethics. Participate in departmental and division-level meetings, committees, and functions related to the educational program. Participate in general faculty functions related to the educational program, professional development programs, and other contractual duties as assigned.
