MAJOR FUNCTIONS: The Machining Career/Technical Educator Instructor is a grant-funded position at the Jefferson Correctional Institution. The Instructor’s major functions are to teach an appropriate, assigned career/technical education program through the facilitation of a teaching environment (lecture, group, or individual) targeting a diverse population resulting in the earning of appropriate industry recognized certifications. The Instructor also works with the student and the educational staff to assist students with an academic and career pathways plan.
MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE: High school diploma or its equivalent, and six years of experience in the vocational being taught. or a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited educational institution, and two years of occupational experience in the vocation being taught; or additional education or training may substitute on a year-for-year basis for up to four (4) years of the required experience.
ENVIRONMENTAL AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Required job duties are normally performed in a climate-controlled prison setting, and certain physical abilities are needed to perform duties in this fast-paced working environment. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform certain essential functions.Must be able to lift and carry items of at least 20 pounds.
