Position Vacancy Announcement Campus Recreation is pleased annouce the acceptance of qualified applications for several OPS Grounds/Maintenance Assistants. Under the direction of the Landscape and Grounds Superintendent, this position is responsible for the general maintenance and care of all Campus Recreation grounds and associated properties. Responsibilities Includes but not limited to care, maintenance, and cleanup of all Campus Recreation lawns, planting bed and sidewalks, seeding, and minor irrigation repair; Assists with maintenance, care, and planting of campus flowerbeds with annuals and assisting with other plantings as needed; Maintains all athletic fields to include but not limited to emptying trash cans, weeding and cleaning of all landscape beds on all fields, with emphasis on the overall presentation of every athletic field and its surroundings, while accommodating University and departmental schedules; Provides minor maintenance and building repairs to include but not limited to window and pressure washing, vent cleaning, painting, and event set-up; and assists with other duties as assigned.Minimum Qualifications Completion of ninth grade; or relevant work experience equivalent to ninth grade.Recommended Competencies Knowledge of and ability to safely operate a variety of production equipment.Knowledge of landscaping and groundskeeping techniques;Ability to perform groundskeeping work to include the transplanting, cultivation, pruning, and trimming of plants, shrubs, and trees;Ability to meet physical requirements of position;Knowledge of and ability to apply set research and laboratory procedures and safety practices;Knowledge of and the ability to interpret and apply related University policies, procedures, principles, and practices; andAbility to establish and maintain effective working relationships.Anticipated Salary Range $11/hour.Pay Plan This is an Other Personnel Support (OPS)/Temporary position.Conditions of Employment Successful candidate is subject to a pre-employment screening which includes a review of criminal records, reference checks and verification of education.
