Essential Functions

Management of Daily Operations

  • Supervise and manage all areas of the golf operation in a professional manner.
  • Contribute to creating an inclusive and engaging atmosphere
  • Control and manage play; answer phones, ensure guest check-in and fee collection and starting duties, record daily sales and keep track of member and guest play.

Merchandising

  • Assist in the purchasing, receipt, display, promotion, inventory control, special orders and sales of all merchandise.

Clinics and Instruction

  • Provide golf instruction and clinics as needed that are consistent with the instructional methods, policies and procedures for the club.
  • Play golf with the members and continually strive to improve your golf game.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Effectively communicate with a variety of groups of people including prospective customers, current club members, clients, club department heads, and the general public.
  • Multitask and solve practical problems.
  • Interact with a variety of age groups and diverse backgrounds.
  • Represent the golf club in a professional manner at all times.
  • Ability to maintain composure and problem solve in a variety of high stress situations.
  • Basic computer knowledge including Word and Excel applications.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelors Degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • Prior golf shop experience.
  • Working knowledge of golf including handicapping and golf course operations.
  • Strong playing ability on the course.
  • 1-2 years of customer service experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • PGA training or PGM training.
  • Knowledge of tournament and golf point-of-sale software.
  • Regular participation in continuing education seminars and workshops related to golf operations.

Working Environment

Expected to work in an office setting, the customer service counter in the golf shop, practice range, club repair area, cart storage area, and on the golf course.

Physical Activities

Must be able to effectively move about the facility, both inside and outside on a regular basis. Need to be able to lift objects up to 50 lbs.

Work Schedule
40 Hours a week, must be available weekends

Salary Grade Number:
The salary grade for the position is 6.

Salary Range:
The salary range for this position is $41,000 - $45,000.

The University of Denver has provided a compensation range that represents its good faith estimate of what the University may pay for the position at the time of posting. The University may ultimately pay more or less than the posted compensation range. The salary offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal salary equity considerations, and available market information, but not based on a candidates sex or any other protected status.
