Position Description :

Texas State University has launched a new Civil Engineering Program focused on the breadth of concepts associated with technology-enhanced (Smart) infrastructure. Currently, the program seeks to fill a non-tenure line Assistant Professor of Practice position to begin in Spring 2022 (preferred) or Fall 2022 semester.

The successful candidate will be expected to develop and teach general civil engineering courses, as well as courses in their area of expertise, at the undergraduate and graduate level. Required Qualifications:

  • An undergraduate or master’s degree in civil engineering, or a closely related discipline.
  • Demonstrates more than five years beyond entry level experience in a professional practice or management capacity.
  • Professional Licensure/Registration (PE) or the ability to obtain licensure within three years of initial hire.
  • Demonstrated, by virtue of education and/or design experience, qualifications to teach courses that are primarily design in content.
  • Demonstrated leadership roles in civil engineering related professional organizations.
  • Record of professional publications and presentations.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A doctoral level degree in civil engineering, or a closely related discipline.
  • Record of teaching experience related to civil engineering.
  • Experience in the application of technology to civil infrastructure.
  • Experience with ABET accreditation procedures and deliverables.
  • Demonstrated excellence in written and oral communication.
