Job Description:

The Anoka-Ramsey Community College Nursing Program, in an inclusive and student-centered environment, and in collaboration with community partners, seeks to develop clinically and professionally competent graduates with a commitment to improving the health and quality of life of people on a local, national, and global level. The Nursing Program Specialist and Advisor serves as a member of a professional team providing comprehensive advising services for students who have been dually admitted into baccalaureate degree program with Minnesota Alliance for Nurse Education (MANE). In this position, you will provide leadership, direction, and program coordination for students with an emphasis on retention and completion. In collaboration with the Dean, you will develop and monitor a comprehensive assessment plan to ensure continuous program improvement. You will serve as the primary advisor for the assigned student groups from various diverse and socioeconomic backgrounds. In addition, you will work across campuses and with multiple external partners. You will work effectively with student services offices, faculty, and academic departments to meet the goals and objectives of the nursing program and the institution. You will also facilitate program events and serve on college and MANE committees.

This position will have responsibilities at both the Cambridge and Coon Rapids campuses of ARCC and Coon Rapids will be the home campus. This posting will be open until filled, however, individuals applying by October 11th will be considered first.

Required Qualifications:

  • A minimum (2) years of professional experience working with students in an Advising role.
  • A minimum (2) years of professional experience in conducting interactive presentations to large groups.
  • Oral and written communication skills to independently interpret and explain nursing program criteria requirements to students.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and security for all information received per FERPA and HIPAA regulations
  • Experience with one or more of the following populations: International Students, ELL/ESL students, students with disabilities, PSEO and career programs, or other non-traditional students.
  • Ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with constituents in a diverse multicultural and multiracial community.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Education, Nursing or related field.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of ISRS (Integrated Student Record System), Degree Audit Reporting System (DARS), Perspective Content, Operational Database/ORACLE and Microsoft Office including Access, Excel, PowerPoint and Word.
  • Knowledge about the Minnesota Alliance for Nursing Education {MANE), Accreditation.
  • Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN), and the Minnesota Board of Nursing (MBN) including their data confirmation process.
  • Knowledge of college and student services, Nursing Program requirements, and Minnesota State and Anoka-Ramsey Community College policies and procedures sufficient to serve as a resource for enrolled nursing students, staff, faculty and the general public.
  • Knowledge of registration and academic requirements to ensure student’s success in the nursing program.
  • Organizational skills sufficient to manage multiple priorities and timelines, research a variety of topics and summarize information.
  • Ability to work both independently and with a team
  • Masters’ degree in Business, Education, Nursing or related field
