Description of Work Unit:
The College of Education and Human Sciences at Oklahoma StateUniversity enrolls more than 2,800 undergraduate and 900 graduate studentsacross nearly 100 degree programs, preparing students for careers in education,health, human development, design, aviation and more. Position Summary:
Under the general direction of the College's Manager for Marketing and Communications, the Multimedia Producer shoots, edits, writes scripts, produces and distributes quality multimedia content, including video packages and stills, to promote the College of Human Sciences and its four academic units. The Multimedia Producer is responsible for covering College events and student activities, conducting faculty and student interviews, obtaining supporting b-roll and creating graphics in order to produce segments and stories in a multi-user, non-linear editing environment. Completed projects are used for social media channels, internal websites, email newsletters and external broadcast outlets that require high definition footage.

General Responsibilities:
*Plan and implement a creative and effective overall multimedia and video production strategy across all aspects of the College.
*Provide quality multimedia services, including video, audio and high resolution still photography for social media, web pages, printed publications, and other promotional media.
* Work with colleagues within the Marketing and Communications unit to promote and publicize the College's programs and activities.
*Maintain photo and video archives, equipment and technology.

Requires ability to work extended hours beyond the typical business day, nights and weekends throughout the academic year, when required.

Must be capable of transporting and setting up equipment and materials used in college-wide activities and special events. Must be able to lift, operate, and carry video equipment.

Education & Experience

Position Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Broadcast Journalism, Media Production, Mass Communication or related field.

* One year of experience in multimedia production
* Experience in video production including planning, lighting, digital video camera operation, framing, audio acquisition, editing, creating graphics, encoding software and hardware and other elements
* Substantial experience with non-linear video editing software (AVID, Media Composer, Adobe Premiere or Final Cut ProX)
* Experience shooting with professional grade high definition (HD) digital cameras, including digital single lens reflex cameras (DSLRs)
* Experience with audio recording techniques
* Experience with posting digital media online
* Experience shooting and editing still photos.

*Ability to investigate and identify communication needs to target audiences; thorough knowledge of digital communication techniques, vehicles and formats; ability to effectively use digital technology to achieve communication goals
*Demonstrated ability to keep abreast of College events to identify and capitalize on media opportunities that will promote the College and increase positive media coverage
*Ability to engage in effective interview techniques to define and deliver media messages
*Working knowledge of applicable laws pertaining to written and electronic materials and news media, including libel/slander, copyright and privacy
*Knowledge and experience working with digital archives and archival processes
*Knowledge of graphic software programs like Adobe Photoshop and AfterEffects
*Demonstrated visual creativity
*Excellent communication skills; ability to effectively communicate information in a clear and understandable manner, both verbally and in writing
*Knowledge of AP style and thorough knowledge of English grammar, spelling and punctuation
*Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to set priorities to accommodate multiple assignments with fluctuating and time-sensitive deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications:

* Experience in video or television production and still photography
* Previous work experience in higher education
