Assistant/Associate/Professor Toxicology

The Department of Physiological Sciences in the College of Veterinary Medicine at Oklahoma State University (OSU) in Stillwater, OK is seeking applicants for an open rank faculty position (tenure accruing) in toxicology.

Qualifications include a DVM (or equivalent) and/or PhD in toxicology. Board Certification in the American Board of Veterinary Toxicology (ABVT) or the American Board of Toxicology (ABT) is desired but not required. The successful applicant must have excellent written and verbal communication skills and demonstrated ability to work collegially and collaboratively with a diverse population of colleagues and students.

Responsibilities reflect the typical tri-partite mission of a land grant university. The incumbent will be expected to develop and sustain a strong research program in toxicology, as well as participate in the University’s Interdisciplinary Toxicology Program (https://gradcollege.okstate.edu/programs/toxicology/). The candidate will also be responsible for the teaching of toxicology within the veterinary professional curriculum. In addition, a small service component (case consultation) may be included depending upon the candidate’s experience and interest.

The Department of Physiological Sciences encompasses the disciplines of physiology, anatomical sciences, pharmacology, and toxicology. Members of the department have a history of scholarly productivity and have obtained funding from the NIH including a COBRE center grant for respiratory diseases (the Oklahoma Center for Respiratory and Infectious Disease https://ocrid.okstate.edu/), the Department of Defense, USDA, American Heart Association, and other extramural agencies. Faculty also have significant commitments to teaching in both the graduate and DVM professional curricula. The Department houses the multi-institutional Interdisciplinary Toxicology Program which offers substantial opportunities for collaboration. Preference will be given to those candidates with a research interest that complements existing departmental and college research programs, including respiratory diseases, oncology (via the INTERACT program https://vetmed.okstate.edu/interact/index.html), and neurotoxicology.

The Oklahoma State University System enrolls approximately 36,000 students on its four campuses in Stillwater, Tulsa, Okmulgee, and Oklahoma City. Opportunities for multidisciplinary research exist with faculty in the College's three departments, as well as with other faculty on the Stillwater campus and at the OSU Center for Health Sciences in Tulsa. In addition, opportunities are available for collaboration with researchers at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center and Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation in Oklahoma City as well as the University of Tulsa.
