Job Summary:

Security Officers are responsiblefor maintaining the security of people, buildings, and their contents, andpreventing break-ins and theft through guarding and surveillance. Securityofficers work in a range of environments and are expected to deal with a widerange of situations as they occur; ensuring that businesses, properties, andvaluables are protected from harm. The role of a security officer will dependon the nature of the company or premises being secured.

Skills& Knowledge:
Responsibilities could involvebut are not limited to:
-Individually patrolling agiven area
-Monitoring a building via closed circuit television
-Managing door control for entertainment venues such as bars and night clubs
-Maintaining security at organization locations, car parks, and events
-Travelling with valuable goods in a specialist security vehicle
-Patrolling one or several premises
-Monitoring activity outside and inside premises through observation andclosed-circuit television
-Signing in visitors to a building
-Sorting post and checking suspicious packages
-Performing checks on building traffic (the people going in and out of abuilding)
-Recording any suspicious activity and taking any necessary action
-Guarding valuables or cash (typically in a secure vehicle)
-Communicating relevant information to other security officers viawalkie-talkies or other communication devices
-Giving directions and other information to visitors
-Getting to know fellow security officers and other colleagues (building uprelationships usually makes the job a lot easier)
-Writing reports for the police or courts
-Conducting general reception duties
-Creating and distributing building access cards
-Managing the car park (if the premises have one)

EnvironmentalHazards:
There may be exposure to physical danger, such as:
1. Dangerous criminal elements
2. Arrest situations
3. Mentally deranged persons
4. Traffic accidents
5. Unruly crowds
6. Exposure to disease or hazardous materials during emergency responses
7. Various weather and hazardous conditions, which may be unpleasant.


PhysicalRequirements:
This position requires theability to lift and carry 75 pounds, stoop, reach, stand, walk, finger, grasp,feel, talk, hear, see, and perform repetitive motions with or withoutreasonable accommodations. This position also may require walking and running up or down multiple flightsof stairs, chasing a fleeing suspect a moderate distance (up to ½ mile),detaining a suspect and maintaining custody, lifting or pulling aninjured person to safety, operating a security vehicle in routine and emergencysituations, and standing and/or walking continuously for a regular eight-hourshift.

Education & Experience

Position Qualifications:

Required:-High School/GED
-Valid Oklahoma driver license
-Current Oklahoma CLEET License in: Phase 1 (Basic), Phase 2 (Officer) andPhase 4 (Firearms)
