Assistant Professor in the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering

The Oklahoma State University, Stillwater, Oklahoma invites highly qualified candidates to apply for tenure-track faculty positions at the rank of Assistant Professor in the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE). (Other ranks may be considered depending on the candidate's level of experience.) The School seeks candidates with expertise in the broad areas of Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, and Embedded Control.

Applicants should clearly identify in their cover letter and research statement their expertise and experience in the aforementioned areas, and any specific hardware or software applications that have been successfully addressed. The School intends to hire two highly qualified candidates (contingent on available funds). For highly exceptional candidates, other areas in Electrical Engineering will also be considered on a case-by-case basis.

Qualifications: Candidates must have an earned Ph.D. or equivalent in electrical engineering or computer engineering, or closely related field. Successful candidates will be expected to teach electrical, computer and software engineering courses, develop an externally funded, internationally recognized research program, excel in teaching at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, work closely with industrial partners in the Oklahoma defense and aerospace communities, and serve the School and their profession. Strong oral and written communication skills, and the ability to work individually and in teams are required. Engineering experience within industry or government laboratories is highly desired, but not required. Candidates who can utilize, share, leverage, and develop existing ECE research laboratories are especially encouraged to apply.

Electrical and Computer Engineering: The School currently has 17 full-time faculty members, 420 undergraduate students and 50 graduate students. The School operates numerous laboratories including the VLSI Computer Architecture Research Laboratory, the Laboratory for Advanced Sensing, Computation and Control, and the Mixed-Signal VLSI Laboratory. Numerous opportunities exist for collaboration with OSU’s internationally recognized Unmanned Systems Research Institute and the New Product Development Center.

The School offers the BS, MS, MEng, and PhD degrees in Electrical Engineering and the BS degree in Computer Engineering with an option in Software Engineering. The School's baccalaureate programs are ABET accredited. Research thrusts within the School include a) Communications, Networks and Internet-of-Things (loT), b) Electromagnetic Wave Propagation and Systems, c) Energy and Power, d) Image Formation, Signal Processing and Machine Vision, e) Intelligent Control Systems and Robotics, f) Photonics and Electro-Optics, g) Solid State Electronics and Systems, and h) Very Large Scale Integration (VLSI), Computer Architecture and Embedded Systems.

The School has developed a highly professional and collegial culture of dedicated professors who are teachers of excellence and researchers with distinction. The School places high emphasis on a collaborative, team-based approach to solve pressing problems in science, engineering and technology. In a couple of years, the School will be located in a fully renovated, highly modern, 17,500 ftt2 office complex within the historical building of Engineering South.
